The Meraki teams are excited to have 5 teams representing the Leaside Skating Club this upcoming season.  The Meraki Synchro program will be offering Intermediate, Novice, Pre-Juvenile, Elementary and Beginner 2 teams. The Intermediate team is current reigning Canadian Champions and they are looking to defend their title in 2018-2019.  They are coached by seasoned veteran MK MacDougall and are working hard during the Spring on skills to get ready for choreography coming up in the summer.

After years of Regional Championship wins and 2 National medals in Novice in 2012 and 2013 the Novice team is thrilled to be back for 2018-2019!  The Meraki program has spent the last few years building their program and is thrilled to have a Novice team again at Leaside.  This team is being coached by Jennifer Williams, who has a long history of success at Leaside including coaching Junior, Novice, Juvenile and Elementary.  This team is made up of 20 girls from across the greater Toronto area and they are looking forward to making their debut in the Novice category this season.

The Elementary team from 2017-2018 had tremendous success and will be moving to the Pre-Juvenile division this year.  They are looking for a more competitive category and are excited to be the first Pre-Juvenile team to ever be part of the Meraki synchro program.  This team will also be coached by Jennifer Williams.

The Beginner 2 team was new in 2017-2018 and 95% of that team was hooked on synchro and all have moved up a division.  The new Elementary coach, Meredith Tutching, retired from competitive synchro at Leaside in 2015 but is happy to be back giving back to the program and building during the foundation years.  This team is working very hard and excited to fill the shoes of the past successful Elementary teams.

The Beginner 2 team in 2017-2018 was a new team and will continue again in 2018-2019.  They are coached by Caitie McKinnon, with the assistance of some other Meraki skaters, and will work to continue to be the building block of the Meraki Club.  They are almost all new to synchro again this season and will no doubt learn how much fun it is to skate at Leaside.

The Meraki teams look forward to showcasing their programs at their annual Showcase on November 18th.

The Meraki teams had a successful weekend in Oakville at Synchro Capers.  The Beginner 2 team had their debut performance and earned a Silver ranking.  This was a huge accomplishment for entire team of skaters that are brand new to the sport of Synchronized Skating.  The Elementary team battled back from a 4th place standing after their first skate to win the event.  The Juvenile team was in a tight race for the podium and ended up with the bronze medal.  Lastly, the Intermediate team moved up from 3rd in their first skate to take home the Silver medal.  Next stop is Regionals for the Juvenile and Intermediate team.
